SPEECH PATHOLOGY IN BRISBANE

Finding the Words, Together

Communication looks different for everyone, and so does the support to build it. Our Brisbane Speech Pathology team works with children and adults on everything from first words and reading to recovering speech after a stroke, helping people be understood and connect with the people around them. Based in Aspley, our therapists also see clients in homes, schools and the community across Brisbane.

How Our Brisbane Speech Pathology Team Can Help

Every communication or swallowing difficulty affects daily life differently, so our Brisbane team starts with a comprehensive assessment, usually around 1.5 hours, or up to 2.5 hours for school-aged clients, sometimes split across two sessions to keep it manageable. From there, we build a plan around what actually matters to you or your child, whether that's learning to read, being understood at school, recovering language after a brain injury, or simply feeling confident having a conversation.

What Happens When You Come In

Your first visit is a full assessment across the areas relevant to you, speech, language, literacy, swallowing, oromotor skills, social skills or voice, so we understand the whole picture, not just one symptom. You'll receive a written report you can share with your GP, teacher or other care team members.

From there, therapy runs in 45 or 60-minute sessions, delivered one-on-one or in small groups depending on what suits your goals best, either in our Aspley clinic, at your home or school, or via telehealth if that's more convenient.

Funding Your Speech Pathology Sessions

Hanrahan Health is a registered NDIS provider for Early Intervention Services and Therapeutic Supports, and we welcome NDIA-managed, plan-managed and self-managed clients. Depending on your circumstances, Medicare rebates may also be available under the Better Start for Children program or a GP Chronic Disease Management Plan — our admin team can talk you through what applies to you before your first session.

For full details, visit our Funding page, or get in touch and we'll help you sort out the right pathway.
